Mommy Stress isn’t a term you will hear until you become a stressed out Mommy yourself. Not enough credit is given to the workload of a Mommy, especially when there are small children involved. Quite often the contributor to a large proportion of Mommy Stress is the expectations that a Mother puts on herself; we are often our worst critic. It can almost feel like an impossible task to prepare meals, be the perfect Mother and partner, keep a clean house and meet all the social commitments on a daily basis. Contributing to the Mommy Stress is the feeling of lack of achievement. It doesn’t matter how well you changed diapers, kept up with the washing or entertained the little ones, there is the same amount of work to do the very next day, and still the same amount of Mommy Stress.

Chi-Town Crochet Cowl

Yarn: 1 skein Lamb’s Pride Worsted 190 yards
Size K 6.5 mm hook, or size to achieve a relaxed stitch and flexible fabric, gauge is not important.

This pattern uses a multiple of 4 + 1 stitches.
Example is 30” long and 8” wide, joined with a single twist to make a moebius.

Stitch abbreviations U.S. Terminology used
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
sc = single crochet
st = stitch
sp = space
sk st = skip stitch

Make enough chains so that when the ends are joined it will easily fit over your head. Be sure the final number is a multiple of 4 + 1.  (I chained 81).
Note: When working dc rows do not work into 1st stitch directly underneath turning ch. Ch 3 turning chain counts as a dc throughout.

Say Very Sweet Things

These are the last two crocheted baskets I will be making for a while. I have moved on to something else using yarn instead of thread.

I made a square one and put a little flower and some color into the round one-

The square one took a little longer to make and I wasn’t too happy with the end results. I couldn’t find just the right molds for the square.
